HOW WE WORK
The members of acumen7 provide advice and support in a variety of ways. Most commonly, they act as independent advisors to businesses and organisations tackling specific assignments at a high level. Members often provide more general support to senior management in these situations. Many of our members hold non-executive directorships, and sit on the management boards of public bodies and academic institutions.
Through a culture of collective collaboration members do, on occasion, work together to provide a powerful team tailored to the assignment.

Clive Arup is a Civil Engineer with extensive experience in the UK and abroad in infrastructure and commercial buildings. Recently he has been managing and marketing several companies, and has also previously managed the acumen7 office, its communications and administration. Clive is a director of an acumen7 spin off – Barn Energy Ltd.
Tim is a Managing Partner of a leading independent UK headquartered, international executive search firm which specialises in appointing senior executives in the Technology, Energy and Infrastructure sectors. He has 20 years’ experience as a head-hunter prior to which he spent 10 years as an Army Officer serving with the Royal Engineers in the UK, Germany, the Balkans and Far East.

Peter is a strategist with a strong engineering background, developed through pragmatic industrial and commercial experience as a line manager, consultant and director of strategy of a Big4 professional services firm. He is currently working in a small team to develop tidal energy and hydroelectric installations on the UK’s rivers.

Graeme is a qualified corrosion specialist and engineer, having completed his education by 1986 at the now Uni of Portsmouth in Applied Chemistry - BSc Hons - and the Uni of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology - MSc Corrosion Science & Engineering by thesis. He has published many papers over the years on the subject of the management and control of the corrosion of structures.
Specialist in developing project and programme leadership to support organisations deliver their strategy and difficult change whilst meeting operational demands. Passionate about delivering value by incorporating the latest behavioural, project, programme and change management thinking.
Robert is a civil engineer turned project manager, project finance and business leader. After 30 years leading public and private sector transformation, Robert is now investing in and turning around SME companies.
John has 45 years’ experience working with major private sector companies and Government to deliver social infrastructure projects using private funding. He now has a plural portfolio of Non-executive Director roles with companies across the construction, manufacturing, healthcare, and finance sectors; he provides strategic advice on the growth plans of these businesses, some of which are private equity-backed. John is also Trustee on the Boards of a number of charities.
Simon Pratt practiced as an independent Executive Search consultant primarily working with a leading firm – Grosvenor Clive & Stokes. In addition he was an Associate Director of CPS, the Mentoring & Coaching specialists. He was in top-level executive search for over 30 years, latterly specialising in construction, infrastructure and logistics. He is a founder member of acumen7.
Giles is a Fellow and Chartered Manager with 35 years’ experience in international aviation and engineering. Giles has held a number of Director and Senior Executive roles within the BAA Group and Heathrow Airport Limited, as well as a number of Non-Executive roles. Giles joined AECOM in November 2019 as their CTO.
Patrick Theis is a specialist in Lean Management and in particular an expert in Lean Construction. He has developed an approach to implement Lean Management to construction, plant construction and industry projects. His main focus is to improve the performance of the whole value chain from engineering, procurement /logistics and the construction work on site.
Groundhill Ltd, was founded in 2000. Groundhill is a UK and European Consulting Group with a vertically integrated capability in the design, procurement and delivery of, major programmes, projects, logistics and manufacturing, across a full spectrum of UK sectors and markets.
Kim's sector experience encompasses third party claims in shipping, and operational, legal, compliance and regulatory experience in investments and construction insurance.

When the acumen7 network was established, it created an environment for business opportunities to be brought to the table, debated and germinated. This has been possible through the diversity of experience, knowledge of the marketplace, strong connections and the ability to make things happen.
