Visit to Begbroke Science Park

On Friday 15th January a small group of acumen7 members were invited by Isis Innovations to visit The Begbroke Science Park just outside Oxford. This is the relatively new home of the Oxford University Materials Science Department. The meeting was one of a number of “getting to know each other” sessions arranged by acumen7 and Isis with the objective of identifying commercial opportunities from research at Oxford.

We were treated to a tour around the laboratories and were impressed both by the scale of the research experiments and the amount of commercial awareness that already existed. Professor Patrick Grant was our host for the day but we were able to meet and discuss things with a number of other key senior members of the faculty.
We have already had further discussions with Isis and there are a number of business opportunities that may develop out of this initial contact.
