MBE for champion of lean construction.

For the past 20 years, Richard has championed the principles of lean construction methods. In 2005 he helped set up and continues as Chairman of Buildoffsite, an industry-wide campaigning organisation that promotes greater uptake of offsite techniques by UK construction.

“This was a great honour that really took me by surprise” says Richard “It is very easy to reflect on the award as a personal achievement which, in part, is true. Equally, it recognises all those people that helped me over the years to deliver a leaner industry. It would be inappropriate not to include their efforts too.

“I will continue to drive towards a leaner construction industry, helping to eliminate unwanted waste and improve delivery efficiency. There is still a lot more work to be done. I hope this honour will create an even greater awareness of lean construction in all it’s forms!”
